Here at Gulf Coast Ponies horses have been a big part of our family for generations. Our family's love for horses started back in the 1960's, when a shetland pony and driving cart were given as a gift for a 16th birthday. From then on the "horse bug" was passed down to the younger generations. After showing horses for many years with numerous AQHA World and Congress titles to countless AMHR National Championships. We decided to take a step back from the show world and enjoy the quiet life of trail riding with our beloved equines.
Walking and swimming in the saltwater provides numerous benefits for the horses. We would frequently bring the horses to the beach for a change up in their exercise routine and for the benefits that the saltwater provides. Our horses quickly found out how much they enjoy swimming.
Rescuing horses among other farm animals has always been a big part of our family. Our rescued animals have come to us from a variety of situations. From being victims of neglect, mental and physical abuse, to auctions and kill pens. Many of the horses we have rescued come to us with a variety of skin and hoof diseases. Since moving to Florida from Upstate New York, we have used the benefits of the beach to our advantage. With proper nutrition, love and care plus the saltwater and it's numerous benefits, our rescue horses skin and hoof diseases cleared up.
We set out to make it our mission to offer horse lovers the experience of a lifetime with our gentle and safe horses. With that mission in mind we opened Gulf Coast Ponies to the public by offering beach excursions and trail rides. On top of providing the experience of a lifetime, every ride assists us with the rehabilitation of rescue horses. Here at Gulf Coast Ponies our horses are our family.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit us at the beach! Please call before you visit to find out what location we are at for the day!
